Modelo Especial Beer Review (#9)

Welcome back blog readers! We are going to mix it up for this review and take a look at a Mexican beer. For this review, we are going to look at Modelo Especial. Modelo Especial is a pilsner-style lager beer that is said to offer a crisp, refreshing taste.

To start, let’s take a look at the nutritional facts of Modelo Especial. For every twelve ounces of Model Especial, you can expect 145 calories and 14 grams of carbs. Modelo Especial is also a vegan beer if you are on such a diet. The ABV content for Modelo Especial is 4.4 percent for every twelve ounces. Modelo Especial does offer higher calories than most beer, but It is to be expected because it is not considered a “light” beer.

Alright, let’s move over to some pricing points for Modelo Especial. The beer is offered in your standard six, twelve, eighteen and twenty-four packs. If you are looking to purchase a twelve pack, your cost will be around $15.99 depending on your store of purchase. If you wish to purchase a twenty-four pack, your cost are going to be around $27.99, once again depending on your store of purchase. I have found Modelo Especial to be cheaper at Kroger, but it is often hard to find twenty-four packs of the beer at times. Your best bet is to look for twelve packs of Modelo Especial because I find those to be the most common.

Now let’s compare a few beers to Modelo Especial. I am going to stick with Mexican beers to compare with. The first beer I will compare to Modelo Especial is Tecate Original. The ABV of Tecate is one percent higher at 4.5 percent per twelve ounces. The carb level between Tecate and Modelo is the same at 14 grams for every twelve ounces. The calorie intake is slightly less in Tacate at 142, where Modelo comes in at 145 calories per twelve ounces.

The next Mexican beer I am going to compare to Modelo Especial is Dos Equis Lager Especial. With Dos Equis, you get slightly less carbs at 11, compared to the 14 grams of Modelo. The ABV is .2 percent less than Modelo at 4.2 percent. Dos Equis has 14 fewer calories than Modelo, coming in at 131 calories for every twelve ounces.

Overall, Modelo Especial is a refreshing beer to try. When buying a Mexican beer, it is not my first choice though. If you like trying different beers then I suggest giving Modelo Especial a chance! That’s about it for this review readers!

For my next review, I am going to look at a little darker of beers. This review will focus on Yuengling traditional amber lager. Yuengling, although hard to spell, is a refreshing beer to sit back and relax with. I enjoy the taste of Yuengling very much. Would you care for a fun fact about Yuengling? I hope so because I plan to tell you anyway. Yuengling happens to be America’s oldest brewery with a founding date of 1829. Let’s look at some nutrition facts for Yuengling. The calorie intake is a little high at 128 per twelve ounces. For a semi darker beer, the calories are not that high at 10 grams for every twelve ounces. Welcome back! The last review I did was on Yuengling Lager. For this review, I am going to focus on the lighter version of Yuengling, Yuengling Light Lager. Yuengling Light has a similar taste to Yuengling, but it has the “light” name. Yuengling light came out a little later than Yuengling in 1986. Alright, let’s look at the nutrition facts for Yuengling Light. It has a low-calorie mark at 99 calories per twelve ounces. The carb level is not too bad, coming in at 8.5 grams for every twelve ounces. The protein level is about 0.8 grams per twelve ounces. Yuengling Light has an ABV of 3.8%, which is a little less than most light beers. Let’s move over to the pricing of Yuengling Light. The pricing for Yuengling Light is the same as it is for Yuengling traditional. For a twelve pack, it will cost you around twelve to fourteen dollars.
